Equipment

Camera

My current system of choice is the Sony Alpha range. My new workhouse as of September 2020 is the Sony A7R IV, prior the Sony A7R II. I made the complete switch over from DSLR to mirrorless in early 2016 and haven’t looked back. For landscape the sensor quality and slightly reduced overall weight make them a great choice for travel. My camera, lenses and more all fit neatly inside my Loka bag from F-stop.

Tripod

I opt for a light but sturdy carbon fibre tripod without a centre column. I’ve had the Induro CT304 tripod since 2015 and it’s been a solid performer ever since. It also features a hook from the underside of the main base so I can hang my camera bag off it and still shoot long exposures in near gale force winds. Paired with a Really Right Stuff ball head it’s solid as a rock.

Filters

An on camera filter system is the preferred choice of landscape photographers worldwide. I’ve used the 100mm system from Lee Filters for around 10 years now including graduated filters, neutral density filters, stoppers for long exposure photography and a circular polariser to help reduce glare and enhance colour.
